It can budge tough stains, remove smells and perform a range of other tasks, but the fabulous folk at McKenzie’s Foods are the real experts on bi-carb soda and they have a whole list of new and exciting ways to use this kitchen pantry staple. The best part? a pack of bi-carb soda will cost you less than $3!

“To clean makeup brushes, soak in Bi-Carb solution overnight. Rinse well and dry.”

3. Shoe whitener and deodoriser

“Make your white sneakers like new again. Combine 1tbs of hot water, 1 tbs of white vinegar and 1tbs of Bi-Carb. Mix and then use an old toothbrush to lather the mixture onto the canvas areas of your shoes. Sprinkle a small amount of dry Bi-Carb into your shoes to remove smells. Shake out well before wearing.”

“Place a small open container of Bi-Carb in your fridge to eliminate unwanted food odours and replace monthly.”
