Here's a cute idea for summer entertaining: make mini jar terrariums using just peat moss to mark your place settings.
Gather your supplies
• Selection of tillandsias
• Glass jars
• Peat moss
• Mist spray bottle
Tip You can buy tillandsias as packaged plants, visit collectorscorner.com.au for stockists.
Step 1 Choose a selection of tillandsias with different leaf textures and colours, which are the right size for your jar.
Step 2 Cover a quarter of the jar base with peat moss.
Step 3 Place plants by simply pushing them into the jar. Air plants don’t need soil for nutrition, only support, so you can place them where you wish. If you are including a flowering tillandsia, position it near centre of jar so flower spike can protrude through opening at top.
Step 4 Mist plants with a fine water spray. You don’t need to water tillandsias – just give them a mist about once a week.
