Hjörtur Smárason originally kept the burger and fries in a plastic bag for three years, but the food is now in a class case and on display at the hostel Snotra House in Þykkvibær, South Iceland, after doing a short stint on Display at The Bus Hotel in Reykjavik.
Although it’s been 10 years since the meal was purchased, it’s still in good condition and the burger doesn’t even show any signs of decomposition. Keen to see it for yourself? You can view the live stream of the burger HERE.
Siggi Sigurdur, the owner of Snotra House, where the burger and fries are currently on display, told BBC News that the burger still looks quite good, and that the live stream website received 400,000 hits per day.
"It's a fun thing, of course, but it makes you think about what you are eating. There is no mould, it's only the paper wrapping that looks old."
It makes you think about what you are eating, indeed!
