Your friends will be lining up to take a dive down your rad new water slide! It packs awesome water cannons and is lined with pool noodles and soaker hoses for a slippery ride all the way.
Gather your supplies:
• 8 x 2m heavy duty plastic sheet
• Hold-down stakes (18 approx.)
• Pool noodles (22)
• 27m x 19mm irrigation tube
• 20m x 12mm fitted soaker hose
• 19mm barbed end plugs (5)
• 19mm barb to snap-on hose connectors (2)
• 12m x 12mm garden hose
• Four-way tap adaptor
• 600mm x 20mm irrigation risers (5)
• 19 x 13mm reducing joiners (3)
• 13mm barbed tees (2)
• 13mm barbed elbow
• 12m x 13mm irrigation tube
• 8m x 4mm irrigation tube
• 13mm barbed end plug
• 13mm barb to snap-on hose connector
• 4mm take-off fitting (4)
You’ll also need:
Hammer; velcro; hose connectors (7); four-way tap adaptor; hacksaw; drill; 6mm drill bit.
Roll out heavy duty plastic. Fold corner at top of slope and hammer in hold-down stakes.
Thread pool noodles onto 19mm irrigation tube and run it around plastic. Use hold-down stakes to fasten tube between noodles.
At bottom of slide, fold plastic over noodles so water will pond. Fold plastic and secure with hold-down stakes.
Attach soaker hose, with holes facing out, to each side of slide using strips of velcro. Cut to length and use 19mm barbed end plug at bottom end of hose and 19mm barb to snap-on hose connector at top. Use hot water to soften end of soaker so it stretches over fittings.
Use a short length of the 12mm garden hose with connectors to join soaker hose to four-way tap adaptor. Repeat Steps 4 and 5 for other side of slide.
Use hacksaw to cut 2 irrigation risers in half. At top of slide, knock a length halfway into ground on each side. Cut a length of 19mm tube 2.5m long and thread 2 noodles over it. Slip open end of noodles over risers in ground so they arch over slide. Repeat to create 2 more arches along slide.
Cut length of soaker hose to fit over arch. Attach 19mm end plug and reducing joiner to each end of hose. Use velcro to attach soaker to arched noodles. Connect 13mm tee to reducing joiner. Repeat for 1 other noodle arch. On arch closest to bottom of slide, use a 13mm elbow instead of a tee fitting.
Use 13mm irrigation tube to run between fittings attached in Step 7. At top arch, connect garden hose into 1 of the outlets on the tee. Connect this garden hose to tap adaptor.
To make water cannon, take half-length of irrigation riser (see Step 6) and drill a 6mm hole halfway along. Thread 2m length of 4mm irrigation tube through hole. Knock riser into ground near slide until it reaches hole.
Thread 4mm tube through a noodle then slip it over riser. Cut off excess tube hanging out of noodle. Repeat Steps 9 and 10 for remaining water cannons.
Run length of 13mm irrigation tube down this side of slide. Fit an end plug at bottom and 13mm snap-on hose fitting at top. Push 4mm take-off fittings into end of 4mm tube near ground. Pierce 13mm tube and push take-off fitting into it. Use short length of hose to connect 13mm tube to tap adaptor.
The kids will love it!
