"Actually love this idea."

It might be made of paper, but that doesn’t mean all gift wrap can be recycled.

Instead of buying a roll of wrapping paper, clever mum, Shantelle Conway, has taken to TikTok to share how she transformed a paper shopping bag from Woolworths into gift wrap.

Woolworths wrapping paper hack

“I did my shopping at Woolworths the other day, and I got their reusable bags, and at the bottom, I could see the little scissors image,” she said.

“They are reusable for your shopping, but you can actually use them as wrapping paper.

“I bought this cute cheese board and decided to chop one of the bags up and give it a go.”

All you have to do is cut the handles off, along the bag’s bottom and down one side. What you’re left with is a sheet of wrapping paper!

“I laid the paper out, folded it, and stuck it all down. Then I did the corners.

“If you want, you can add a little bow, and I put some twine on it, and I love it.

“I wasn’t sure how it would look but gave it a go and loved it.”

The post has been liked over 4000 times, with many agreeing it’s a very clever idea.

“Genius! Well done, Woolies,” said one person.

Another added: “Actually love this idea they had! So good. It doesn’t look bad, either, and I thought it would look super tacky.”

“How it was done in the ’80 and early ’90s before plastic bags. My mum always used the brown paper bags for wrapping paper.”

“Love this cheese board”

While they agreed that the wrapping paper hack was a great idea, they wanted to know where the mum got the cheese board.

“Did you get the cheeseboard from Woolworths??” one person asked.

Another said, “Love this cheese board.”

“How much was the cheese board? where from, too, please?” asked another.

Shantell did indeed pick up the cheeseboard from Woolworths for $18 and you can buy it here.

You’re welcome!
