It takes a special kind of person to care for orphaned and injured animals.
At a clinic in the hinterland of the Sunshine Coast, Dr Harry meets just such volunteers who specialise in our native Kangaroos and Wallabies.
These poor creatures are here because they’ve been hit by cars, caught in barbed wire fences, or sustained injuries in some other way.
Once assessed by a specialist vet, they’re treated and taken to the Dhil’um-bar Kangaroo Sanctuary for rehabilitation and release.
Dr Harry meets the team of volunteers as he does the rounds at the clinic, tours the sanctuary, and gets to experience the ultimate reward for wildlife carers… the release of some wallabies back to the wild.
