5. Washing soda
Washing soda is a must-have laundry staple. It’s cheap, available at the supermarket and will leave your clothes amazingly bright and stain-free.
Made by heating bicarbonate soda, making it more alkaline and better at shifting dirt, like body oils in clothing, washing soda is a secret weapon for many mums in the Facebook group, Mums Who Clean.
“I have always added washing soda to my wash because it brightens white vinegar to the rinse because it softens everything,” said one commenter.

6. Citric acid
While Scalex is a top-rated solution for many, others sing the praises of another product, that’s even better: citric acid!
“To the woman who suggested I use citric acid to clean the black from my toilet bowl. I LOVE YOU,” she wrote in the Mum’s Who Clean Facebook group.
“I have seen you guys use Scalex and acids, but the cost of possibly buying multiple bottles to get the job done made me hesitate,” she said.

First, I used Bon Ami to clean about two years of scum from the food catcher in my kitchen sink. Next, I tackled the bath. Without straining a single muscle, I casually wiped away the grime. It was love at first sprinkle.
