According to data collected by Airports Council International, the world’s top 10 busiest airports aren’t exactly what you would expect, and the top place doesn’t go to any of the well-known transit hubs that many a traveller has traipsed through.

Since opening 60 years ago, the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) in the United States has won the title of World’s Busiest Airport for 18 years in a row, that’s every year since 1998. According to passenger surveys, the Atlanta airport welcomed 1010 million passengers, while the Beijing’s International Airport, a transit hub you may have tipped for first place, saw just 90 million passengers.
