Do you dream of a family holiday filled with azure waters and near-empty white-sanded beaches? Do you long for the days when a destination wasn’t so built up with high rise resorts?

We’ve found the perfect place. The Westin Siray Bay Resort and Spa, Phuket is nestled on Sirey Island (also known as Koh Sirey) off Phuket’s east coast.

Here you can experience incredible ocean views and have your own calm secluded beach to truly unwind.

SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE

Perfect for the whole family, The Westin Siray Bay has a dedicated kid’s club with fun activities such as Thai dance, easy yoga and nature walks. Teens can enjoy water sports from windsurfing to snorkelling in Siray Bay. Meanwhile mum and dad can indulge in a spa treatment at Heavenly Spa by Westin.

The whole family can loll by one of the three pools or sample one of the six restaurants on site, the kid’s menu is impressive. Choose from International, Asian or Italian

All 257 modern rooms, suites and villas have outdoor balconies, rainforest showers, and Westin’s well-named Heavenly Beds. Want even more privacy? Select rooms and villas feature private plunge pools.

GO ISLAND HOPPING

Hop aboard a deluxe yacht or speedboat to explore the nearby islands. Phuket is surrounded by even more islands including the Similan Islands, a group of nine islands which are popular with divers and Coral Island (Koh Hae), off the southeast coast, which is ringed by reefs.

You can kayak inside caves or snorkel the reefs, and on Sirey Island trace forest trails on a hike. You can also hire a bike to explore the area.

VISIT PHUKET TOWN

Separated by a road bridge from Phuket, Sirey Island is close to all the action. A visit to see the colourful Sino-Portuguese shophouses of Phuket Town is a must. The buildings date back to the 19th Century when Chinese immigrant merchants came to Phuket during the tin mining days.

Many have been restored and now house shops, galleries, bars and restaurants. Be sure to also visit Phuket Town on weekend nights to sample the markets. Here you can feast on curry, candy and cold beer, as well as buy souvenirs. Be ready to bargain!

HELP THE GIBBONS

Head to In Khao Pra Theaw National Park where a Gibbon Rehabilitation Project is in place. Here you can see where rescued gibbons are rehabilitated before being released back to the forest.

They allow visitors to witness some of the gibbons that cannot be released back into the wild.

It’s free though you will have to pay an entrance fee to the National Park
