Australia is home to some spectacular beaches but Gold Coast hot spot Tallebudgera Creek has been voted the best place for a dip in Australia.
Located just south of the Burleigh Heads National Park at the Southern Gold Coast, this scenic creek took out the top gong in travel site Wot If’s People’s Choice 2019 Uniquely Aussie Awards, which recognises Australia’s most loved travel experiences across six categories.
In recent years, Tallebudgera Creek – or Talle as locals call it – has become a hugely popular spot for swimming, SUPing, basking in the glorious Queensland sunshine and getting that perfect Instagram shot
There’s a flagged swimming area across the creek on the Palm Beach side of the bridge for those who prefer a patrolled beach but the sheltered Echo Beach on the northern side, where the rainforest meets the sea, is one of the city’s most beautiful swimming spots.
“Perfectly framed by Palm Beach on one side and Burleigh Heads National Park on the other, it’s no wonder Tallebudgera Creek’s sparkling waters have been named the best place for a dip in Oz,” the judges said.
The battle for Australia’s best sausage roll was equaly fierce with Sydney’s Bourke Street Bakery taking the coveted title ahead of “Servo”, “7Eleven” and “BP Mudgee.”
“If it’s one thing Aussies know, it’s a good sausage roll,” the judges said. “The best, even and after 14 years in the business, Sydney favourite, Bourke Street Bakery continues to transform the much-loved Aussie snack into a cult favourite.”
