This popular Easter egg has been missing from supermarket shelves for weeks

Have you noticed this?

Woolworths shoppers have been left scrambling with their favourite Easter egg mysteriously absent from stores.

Cadbury Mini Eggs have long been a favourite among those who celebrate Easter. With their pastel, speckled hard shell and delicious chocolate inside, this egg is often the first choice for both snacking on and decorating Easter desserts.

However, this year there has been a distinct lack of Mini Egg packets available to purchase, and Woolworths customers have taken to social media to express their anger.

Turning to the Woolworths Facebook page, shoppers have said,

“I’ve been looking but mini eggs seem to be in very short supply this year.”

While some have noted that they have been able to purchase the elusive eggs, “I found some at BIG W but they are really hard to find nowadays,” many have been left empty handed as they leave the store.

are they just short in supply?

Have Mini Eggs been discontinued?

Cadbury did announce earlier this year that Mini Eggs would be discontinued in the UK. This has lead to increased confusion surrounding the availability of the Cadbury product in Australian stores.

Because of this news, many Woolworths shoppers have been led to believe that this discontinuation choice also applies to their local stores.

One announced, “They’re not making them anymore! I’m so devastated! I’m assuming they only put out the last bit of stock they had left.”

Another claimed that: “Apparently they are discontinuing, I went to five shops yesterday and couldn’t find any. And then I asked a worker and they said they discontinuing so now it’s till stocks last.”

However, a Woolworths spokesperson has informed 7News.com.au that Cadbury Mini Eggs are in fact still available to purchase and will not be discontinued in Australia.

The spokesperson explained that “Our iconic Cadbury Mini Eggs range is a go to for many chocolate lovers during Easter, available via a range of retailers. We’re happy to confirm our Cadbury Mini Eggs range will be included in the Easter 25 range ongoing in Australia.”
