If you’ve tried to save money by cutting pleasurable things out of your life – like your daily coffee or going out to dinner – you might be going about it the wrong way.

The blogger behind Hello Pretty Bird has come up with a genius savings hack that’s simple and relatively painless to follow. You will barely miss the money that you’re putting away for savings.

Starting at just $1 each week, you slowly increase the amount until you’re saving $35 each week. Then you slowly work your way back down to $1 by week 52. By the end of 12 months, you’ve saved $1,000.
