We all know how good it feels to wear a new pair of shoes. They’re fresh, clean and mark-free. The toes are in good shape, the heels haven’t yet been walked down or kicked against numerous steps and stairs, and the surface is slick and smooth.
But after a few wears the toes crease and scuffs can make your fresh kicks feel less-than fabulous. While it’s relatively easy to remove and repair scuff marks from leather shoes, and easier still to have them resoled, it’s almost impossible to remove the creases in the toes that show just how much your boots were made for walkin’.
Thankfully, the internet is a wide and vast place where people share hacks, discoveries and revelations online. And one lady has discovered how to keep her expensive leather sneakers (that are now so popular) in tip-top condition and crease free.
Twitter user @shanteldebonsu posted her method online, and it seems to have been tried and tested by other online users, who support the method.
- You’ll need something to stuff your shoes nice and tight, such as paper or old clothing.
- A small towel, saturated and wringed out so it’s just damp to the touch.
- An iron.
Shantel explains that once the toe of your shoe is stuffed tightly, so much that you can barely see toe creases anymore, lay the damp towel over the toe of the shoe, and iron over the towel for a few seconds at a time.
Shoes can be burnt, so after every couple of second check the shoe beneath the towel to confirm nothing is burning. Repeat until the crease is gone.
