Did you know Easter egg wrappers can actually be recycled?
Many people believe that the foil Easter egg wrappers are unable to be recycled because they are too small or contaminated by food.
However, that is definitely not the case! The simple trick of compiling all of your wrappers into one large ball means that you can recycle foil straight into your yellow bin.
This helpful hack comes from sustainability expert Lottie Dalziel, who explains how to easily recycle your Easter egg wrappers in a TikTok video.
Easter egg wrappers are too small to be thrown in the bin on their own. Instead, the post says to collect all of your wrappers and scrunch them into a large ball before popping them into your recycling bin.

Lottie also acknowledges that sometimes you will not eat enough Easter eggs to create a big enough ball for recycling purposes. She then suggests to “add in your aluminium foil from casseroles or hummus or from your yoghurt or what have you and just keep on building.”
She states that the ideal size of your aluminium foil ball should be around the size of a tennis ball. This is to make it easily identifiable in recycling machinery. If you are unsure about the policies regarding aluminium foil for your area, it is always best to contact your local council for more information.
Sharing this helpful piece of information on their Facebook page, The City of Bunbury also expresses how important it is to recycle as much of your Easter waste as possible.
“Aluminium foil is one of the most recyclable of the products, as it saves the most energy if we do recycle it.”
