Christmas is a time when friends drop by, family come over unannounced and loved ones want to catch up. This usually means your home, and your loo, is experiencing a higher level of foot traffic than normal.
There’s nothing worse than realizing your toilet smells or the bowl is sporting some unsightly stains after your guests have left, so Pearl Chan, founder of the 100 per cent organic and natural cleaning brand Resparkle, has some quick and easy tips for guest-proofing your toilet this silly season.
1. If you leave an embarrassing smell behind…
“Pump a few squirts of hand wash into the toilet bowl. Do quick clean with toilet brush & flush. Most hand wash has a pleasantly strong fragrance so you’ll leave the loo looking and smelling clean.”
2. Pack the loo with paper
“It’s critical that your bathroom is well-stocked with toilet paper before guests arrive. Put a full roll on the dispenser and display a few more rolls, spa-style, where guests can easily access them. Don’t hide them in a closet or under the sink.”
3. Naturally fragrance your bathroom
“Add a few drops of essential oils into the cardboard insert of the toilet paper. This will leave a beautiful scent in the bathroom.”
4. Keep problem solvers within sight
“To help your guests avoid embarrassing bathroom situations keep the stash of toilet paper, tissues, a hand towel and air freshener all within direct line of sight, and don’t forget to pop a bin in the loo for discreet disposals.”
