Who hasn’t scoured the internet looking for hacks to keep your skin youthful? Luckily, a new study has shed light on what you need to eat to have your surface looking sprightly.

In new research published in EBioMedicine, findings suggest that a natural product found in fruit and veggies can ‘reduce the burden of damaged cells, termed senescent cells, and extend lifespan and improve health, even when treatment was initiated late in life.’

In an investigation conducted on mice, researchers treated ageing with a natural product called Fisetin, commonly found in many fruits and vegetables. The natural component also proved beneficial on health and lifespan.

In their research, scientists found Fisetin reduces the level of  damaged cells in the body.

“These results suggest that we can extend the period of health, termed healthspan, even towards the end of life,” says Paul D. Robbins from the University of Minnesota Medical School.

“But there are still many questions to address, including the right dosage, for example,” continues Robbins.

“In addition to showing that the drug works, this is the first demonstration that shows the effects of the drug on specific subsets of these damaged cells within a given tissue.”
