That’s where Chantel Mila, the brains behind the hugely successful TikTok account, mama_mila_, comes in.

She recently shared a DIY floor-cleaning hack that will make your floors sparkle, and people are loving it. 

Alongside the video of Chantel mopping her floor with the DIY cleaner, she writes, “Leave your floors streak-free + shining ✨ save this DIY for your next cleaning day 📌.”

How to make your own DIY floor cleaning solution

Step. 1

Chantel says, mix:

  • 3 cups hot water
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • 1 tsp dish soap
  • 1/4 cup rubbing alcohol (optional, this helps the floors dry faster and leaves them streak-free but isnt suitable for all floor types)
  • 10 drops essential oil (optional, for fragrance).

Step. 2

Fill into a bucket and mop your floors to leave them shining + your whole home smelling amazing 🌻

Note:

Before trying this cleaner out for yourself, Chantel says, “Always patch test before using on your flooring as every flooring is different 💝 this mix is suitable for non-porous tiles and laminate xx”

Best DIY floor cleaner

Chantel’s floor cleaner recipe certainly has her followers talking. 

Some have expressed excitement to try the recipe, while others have added their own cleaning recipes. 

“🧼🧼🧼 love it,” said one commenter. 

Another added: “You can try Castile Soap, A few essential oil drops (peppermint), and warm water.”

Many people wanted to know what types of floors this recipe was suitable for, with some warning against using vinegar. 

“I wouldn’t use this on LPV, laminate or wood floor, but maybe ceramic tile,” said one person.

Another added: “Essential oils can be bad for your dogs and cats!!! Depends on the oil… please check first!”

“Not for all floors…” said another. 

Despite not being suitable for all floor types, the recipe offers a great alternative to store-bought cleaners and can leave your home smelling amazing.
