Generally speaking, the humble tie is made from wonderful fabric. The prints are bold, the colours bright, and it’s just so sad to see an old tie banished to the back of the cupboard.

1. A three pocket handy pouch
A great little project for all your bits n pieces! Phone, glasses, cards the list is endless. Even better it involves very little sewing.
2. A colourful quilt
This would make a wonderful memory project. Know anyone who is about to retire? Voila, one wonderful handmade present.
3. A one of a kind skirt
In this current climate of mass production, why not make a one of a kind statement skirt. All that lovely silk, I could easily see this dressed up and worn at a formal occasion.
4. An apron like no other, imagine the compliments!
Or even better a great gift to make for the man in your life. He can cook and wash in style.
5. Great applique cushions that will add pizazz to your home.
Even easier – buy a ready-made cushion and applique onto it!
