Tinsel is one of those Christmas decorations that doesn’t often appear on magazine covers or in fancy photoshoots of gorgeously festive homes. Tinsel is just one of those things that tends to make a mess, leave glitter all over the floor and hangs heavy on the tree.
However, some clever people have discovered some very chic ways to rework tinsel back into your Christmas decorations, and they’ve shared their wisdom on Pinterest.
Here are some of the best new ways to use tinsel this season, and you can make them all at home!
1. Tinsel wreath
Tightly wrap tinsel around foam circle base and secure firmly at both ends for a glamorous wreath. Add baubles to make it extra luxe.
2. Tinsel Christmas tree
Similar to the wreath, pick up a large foam cone from your local craft store and wrap the tinsel tightly around it to get this glittery take on a Christmas tree.
3. Tinsel baubles
Cut up a garland of tinsel into smaller sections and pop one section into a glass bauble for custom tree decorations in multiple colours.
4. Tinsel wall hanging
If you have a family filled with selfie-loving teens then this tinsel wall hanging is for you. It’s the perfect backdrop to a festive photo and certainly makes a statement on any wall. Just drape lengths of tinsel over a sturdy length of timber dowel and hang with string.
5. Tinsel napkin ring
The perfect way to jazz up a boring napkin ring and give your table some festive cheer, just use short lengths of cardboard tube (such as those from paper towel or wrapping paper) and glue tinsel to the outside. Et voila!
