In a bid to learn more these grinning marsupials, a chocolate company has created an adorably sweet likeness of the beloved quokka.
A Western Australian chocolate factory has recreated the extremely photogenic quokka as a chocolate to help raise funds to keep these adorable critters safe.
Seriously, how cute are they?
Dubbed ‘Chokka the Quokka’, the new milk chocolate marsupial was created by Margaret River Chocolate Company to help raise funds that will be used to research the quokkas. The money will also go toward helping conserve their habitats on Rottnest Island and in WA’s south-west.
“Recent bushfires in the south had a significant impact on the quokka population on the main land,’ Holly Knight, general manager of Rottnest Island Authority’s Environment, Heritage and Parks department told Western Suburbs Weekly.
It’s expected that around $10,000 will be raised from the sale of Chokka the Quokka to help keep the local population safe.
‘We need to work together with the community to protect the future of our uniquely local quokka,’ Western Australia’s Minister for Tourism, Paul Papalia said.
