But if you’re looking for inspiration, Airbnb announced their annual Host Award Winners for 2023 to peruse the list and find your next holiday destination. These winners are not all about the locations, though. They’re about the hosts that go above and beyond in order to create the perfect experience for their guests.
These are the winners…
Host of the year – Veronica and Colin Eastmure, Conondale, QLD
This year’s winner was Veronica and Colin Eastmore in Conondale, QLD, for their fabulous farm stay in the picturesque countryside. Complete with a firepit and balcony bathtub, this stunning location is perfect for your next romantic getaway, and this year’s hosts of the year are known for those special touches like providing a cake for guests’ birthdays and matching robes to wear during your stay.
Best new host – Sarah Abbott, Fremantle, WA
This year’s Best New Host award went to a West Australian host, Sarah Abbott, who offers a loft experience in Fremantles West End district. The apartment has a surprisingly tranquil feel in the heart of Fremantle near High Street and the cafe strip. Sarah credits her success to her guest-first policy and giving her guests an authentic connection to the local area.
Best design stay – Mister Munro, Crookwell, NSW
Stay in a restored Victorian terrace named Mister Monroe, named after the tailor who lived and worked there 120 years ago.
“I wanted to create a home fit for modern-day living whilst keeping a strong heritage feel throughout,” Mister Munro Host Elise Croker said.
Most unique stay – Steam: Renovated 1920s Carriage, Forrest, Victoria
For the Most Unique Stay, a converted 1920s steam train carriage in Victoria’s Otway Ranges surrounded by gorgeous greenery that sleeps 6 people and features an outdoor bath on the balcony (curtains can be pulled for privacy).
Best nature stay – The Cottage at Dunmore Farm, Molyullah, VIC
If you’re interested in getting out of the city, you might like to check out the winner of the Best Nature Stay – the Cottage at Dunmore Farm in Molyullah for an idyllic country escape. A restored 1860 homestead situated on a dairy farm in a stunning valley in the Victorian countryside.
Best room host – Skye Lanser, Forest Lodge, NSW
Skye wanted to share her inner-city design haven and create an authentic, local experience for guests.
“I designed and renovated my 100 year-old terrace especially to share on Airbnb, so each of the spaces have been carefully created to provide an exceptional guest experience,” Sinjin Host, Skye Lanser said.
