Make this smart tote your go-to bag this season, and the next, and the next… The impatient souls among you will simply adore knitting it as much for the speed in which it grows as for the finished result. What’s the secret? Well, actually there are two – the chunky T-shirt yarn and the 10mm needles. It will take only five hours, depending on your skill level, including the sewing up.
Here's how to make it...
Small: 29 x 31cm (Juniper)
Large: 31 x 31cm (Rose)
Gather your supplies
Hook & Hop Cool Tee-Yarn in Juniper, Rose or other colour; 1 pair 10mm knitting needles; yarn or darning needle (for sewing up)
Patt = pattern; st/s = stitch/es; rep = repeat
Cast on 28 (30) sts.
1st row: Knit.
2nd row: Purl.
These 2 rows form the patt.
Work a further 30 rows of patt (ending with a purl row).

33rd row: Knit 10 (11) sts, turn.
34th row: Purl 10 (11) sts to end.

35th row: Knit 10 (11) sts.
36th row: Purl 10 (11) sts then cast on 8 sts then purl to end.
37th row: Knit.
38th row: Purl.

To make up
With right sides facing, use the yarn/darning needle and T-shirt yarn to join the bag front and bag back together using mattress stitch (see Mattress stitch diagram, below).
