Domestic passengers flying Jetstar can expect to pay more for checked luggage - that hasn’t been pre-booked.
From August 15, the discount carrier will charge $60 for checked bags, up from $50.
Additionally, for bags that weigh more than 15 kg, an additional $15 per kilo will be charged. For example, a passenger with a 32kg bag (the heaviest single bag allowed) they could end up paying $315 when checking in.
If you think you’ll get away with packing everything into your carry-on and handbag, think again, Airlines have started weighing all carryon baggage together, with a limit of 7kg per passenger.
The Jetstar website says it's cheaper to add checked baggage when you book, adding that "iIt's more expensive to add it later and if you add it at the airport you'll be up for excess baggage charges."
