Five items you didn't know you could put in the dishwasher
The dishwasher isn’t just for washing dishes.
In fact, there are several household items that could benefit from a cycle in the handy appliance.
Tools
Pop them in the cutlery tray or basket and let the machine do its job. Just make sure you keep an eye on the cycle's finishing time and give them a good dry after.
Hairbrush
How often do you wash your hair brush? Our guess is, not very often. Depending on your brush, the bristles are usually tough enough to withstand being washed in the dishwasher. Just make sure you remove any hair first.
Dish sponge
According to Good Housekeeping, placing your sponge in the dishwasher removes 99.9 per cent of germs.
House keys
Considering how often we use our keys, there’s a good chance they need to be cleaned right now. Remove anything soft or battery powered and toss your keys in the dishwasher. Make sure you give them a good dry afterward to prevent rust.
Dustpan
It’s one job is to clean up dirt, meaning your dustpan is probably full of germs. The dishwasher will take care of that.
