Ingham’s gluten-free 440 gram chicken schnitzel’s sold at Woolworths stores in Victoria have been recalled.
Ingham’s believes the chicken schnitzels were incorrectly packaged, resulting in ordinary schnitzels being labelled as ‘gluten-free’ when they are not, in fact, gluten free.
Those who are gluten intolerant could suffer allergic reactions if the product is consumed. The recall is for products labelled as gluten free chicken schnitzels and has been on sale since Friday March 29, with a best before date of April 8.
The recall is due to incorrect packaging (Southern Style Tenders were packaged incorrectly in Gluten Free Schnitzel labelled tray) which has resulted in the presence of undeclared allergen – gluten.
Ingham’s urges anyone who has purchased this product to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
In a media statement, the chicken company said:
“Ingham’s wishes to advise customers it is conducting a recall on its Gluten Free Chicken Schnitzel product sold chilled in 440g packages (Best Before Date: 08/04/2019). The product has been available for sale at Woolworths stores in Victoria from 29/03/2019.”
“Any consumers who have a gluten allergy or intolerance may have a reaction if the product is consumed.”
“Consumers who have a gluten allergy or intolerance should not consume these products. Customers should return the product to the place of purchase for a full cash refund.”
“Ingham’s apologises to their customers for any inconvenience caused by this recall and if further information is required about the recall they are invited to contact us on 1800 785 940.”
