Ikea is giving its iconic Swedish meatballs a bush tucker makeover this month, with the launch of kangaroo meatballs.
The limited-edition roo ball will be available for three days as part of Ikea’s Democratic Design Days.
The design festival will be held at Sydney’s Museum of Contemporary Art from 27 August to 29 August.
Visitors to the three day event will be able to peek behind the scenes at Ikea, while exploring the future possibilities of life at home in Australia.
Ivana Frost, Ikea Australia Food Manager says: “With the roo ball, we are so excited to offer a limited-edition product that brings together the best of both worlds by uniting our Swedish heritage with modern Australian cuisine.
“At Ikea, we want to make great design accessible for the many people, but design at Ikea doesn’t stop at Lack tables and Poang armchairs. Our menu and food ranges are designed with our design principles in mind.
“The roo ball was developed using sustainably sourced, high quality kangaroo meat, which is a healthier alternative to other meats. We’re confident that we’ve created a new meatball that is truly delicious and, most importantly, can easily be recreated at home at an affordable price”, says Frost.
Tastings of the exclusive roo balls will be available to the public between 11am to 1pm, Monday 27 to Wednesday 29 August.
