How to make tassels
Gather your supplies
Leather remnants; ruler; marker; strong tacky glue (we used Weldbond); sticky tape; sewing machine and thread (optional)
Here’s how:
Step 1 Using a damp pressing cloth, iron the leather to remove folds and wrinkles. Use marker and ruler to draw a 7 x 12cm rectangle. Cut out.
Step 2 Rule a line, 2cm from long edge. If decorating with stitching, topstitch 2mm in from long edge and cutting line.
Step 3 Use scissors to cut fringing up to the line.
Step 4 Cut a length of cord or a thin strip of leather for hanging loop. If making loop, glue ends of the thin leather strip together. Apply glue to uncut area of leather. Wrap leather around cord or hanging loop and roll into a taut roll.
Step 5 Hold end of leather in place for several minutes until glue grips or use sticky tape to temporarily hold in place.
