Discovering birds in the garden brings such joy, but they don’t hang around for long! Made from fallen pine cones and old cutlery, these sweet little ornaments will stay as long as you like. They’re really easy to make – and they look fantastic, too.
For feet, trim 2 fork handles to 20-50mm using snips or cutters. Reserve handles for tails. Using pliers, bend fork prongs to make feet. Push forks into base of cone. Fix with glue.
To make wings, bend 2 spoons, leaving 20mm length of handle at base. Cut at bend. Push 1 spoon into each side of cone. Fix with glue.
For tail, push 1 reserved handle into back of cone and fix with glue.
Glue googly eyes above cone’s woody stalk (owl’s nose). Repeat with as many pine cones as you like.
