Canvas drop cloth, sewing machine and thread, faux leather handles, leather remnant, cotton cord
Step 1 From drop cloth cut one rectangle 52 x 96cm. From leather remnant cut one rectangle 6.5 x 9cm and one strip 6 x 4cm.
Step 2 With right sides facing, fold bag in half, inserting leather strip on a side seam 12cm from top of bag (tab now on inside of bag). With 1cm seams, stitch along base seam and each side seam. Zigzag raw edges to seam finish.
Step 3 Using Boxed Bag diagram as a guide, flatten base, lining up the side seam with the base seam. Rule across the seam. Pin and stitch across, 5.5cm from corner. Trim off excess fabric. Repeat for other side.
Step 4 Hem top of bag with a 4cm double hem.
Step 5 Position leather rectangle on bag front, centred, 4cm from top.
