Gather your supplies
• 50 x 50mm steel posts (2)
• 50mm fence channels (4)
• Bottom rails (2)
• 70mm steel slats, to suit
• Capping pieces (2)
You’ll also need
Shovel; quick-set concrete; spirit level; 10 x 16mm Tek screws (with heads same colour as screen); galvanised screws; wall plugs; plastic spacers; power saw with metal-cutting blade; metal primer paint
Step 1 Set out extent of L-shaped screen and use shovel to dig 150mm diameter holes for posts 500mm deep. Make posts plumb, then concrete in position following product instructions. Ensure tops of posts are level and at a suitable height for the number of slats and plastic spacers you need.
Step 2 Screw fence channels to posts using Tek screws. Use galvanised screws and appropriate wall plugs to fix remaining channel to masonry wall.
Step 3 Using saw, cut bottom rails to size. Prime cut ends. Let dry. Slide 1 bottom rail into channels. At 1 end, screw through channel to rail. Make level and screw at other end. Repeat for other bottom rail.
Step 4 Slide spacers into channels. Using saw, cut slats to length. Prime cut ends. Let dry. Fit slats into channels. Continue until you get to top of screen
Step 5 Cut capping pieces to length. Slot over top of channels and fix in place with Tek screws.
