Gather your supplies
• Drum n Dulux Design Rust Base Paint
• Dulux Design Rust Solution
• 150 x 25mm rough sawn treated pine timber (cut to 60cm lengths)
You’ll also need
40mm galvanised countersunk screws; drill; jigsaw; pencil; exterior paint (we used white, but pick colour of choice); paintbrush
Step 1 Cut drum to required height. Paint leftover drum section with rust base, then paint with rust solution, following pack instructions.
Step 2 Lay out timber lengths (or you could use any timber you have, like fence palings). Using drum as a guide, trace shape of tabletop on timber, making sure it’s slightly larger than circumference of drum.
Step 3 Using jigsaw, cut out shape of tabletop. Cut shorter lengths of timber to act as bracing. These bracing pieces should fit neatly inside the drum. Fix in place to underside of tabletop using 40mm screws.
Step 4 Apply at least 2 coats of exterior paint in your chosen colour to protect timber and give your table a great finish (you could match this to paint in Log Seats, below, for a matching look). You can also use the table for storage, or remove lid to create your own fire pit.
