According to Laurie Beebe, a registered dietitian and weight loss coach, you should make a beeline to the freezer section of your supermarket if you want to lose weight.
‘It’s a proven weight loss technique,” she told Glamour.
“With frozen dinners you don’t have to eat the same exact food every day (like chicken and rice, for instance), but you can eat a 350 calorie meal every day and vary the contents.
“This works because it takes away choices, which takes away decision making – this is the part of dieting many people find to be difficult … thinking too much about what they will have, so they just throw up their hands and eat whatever they want.
“Bringing your frozen meal to work every day takes that responsibility away from you and frees up your mind for other tasks.”
Plus, she adds, “they’re good because they are already measured and portioned, so less works for you. Just heat and eat!”
You can also use your freezer to take the decision-making out of meals by having prepared ingredients on hand.

Frozen fruit treats
Instead of reaching for full-fat ice-cream, freeze a bunch of chopped bananas. When you need a sweet treat, whiz some up in a blender for an ice-cream-like texture.
Buy spinach, kale, and chard in bulk and freeze them as they are, or puree them and freeze. Add them to stir-fries or smoothies.
Freeze spiralised zucchini for an easy pasta substitute.
Free in half and one cup servings and add them to salads or stir-fries.
Adding protein and fibre to a dish makes you feel full for longer, which means you’re less likely to over-eat or snack.
