How to find cheap flights
Money saved on flights is money that could be better spent elsewhere, like sipping cocktails on an island.
The trick is knowing how to find cheap flights in the first place.
Five tricks you need to know
1. Be prepared
Spring is just around the corner and with the change of season comes the first round of sale flights to Europe for next year. Anyone dreaming of a European summer should keep their eyes peeled around the end of September.
2. Know the best day to fly
Certain trends are emerging with some believing the day you travel can influence the price of flights. When traveling within Australia, the best day to fly is said to be Friday. As for international travel, Wednesday is apparently the cheapest day to fly.
3. Don’t rule out a stopover
Although this one isn't ideal for everyone, being open to a stopover can save you money.

4. Be flexible with airports
Your choice of an airport can make a difference to the price of your ticket. If you’re flying into a major city, it’s worth comparing the price difference between alternate airports.
5. Join mailing lists
Email is the quickest way to be notified about a flight sale. Sign up to the mailing lists of your preferred carriers and stay up to date with current airfares. It also pays to follow their social media accounts. Companies regularly offer rewards to their loyal communities by posting deals, specials, and discounts on their social media pages.
