Gather your supplies
• Stretched canvas
• Jo Sonja’s Texture Paste
• Jo Sonja’s Artists’ Acrylic Colours in Skin Tone Base, Blue Violet, Aqua, Titanium White, Brilliant Magenta
• Jo Sonja’s Flow Medium, White Gesso, Gloss Varnish
You’ll also need
Drop sheet; palette knife; wide soft brush; 25mm and flat brushes; plastic lid to use as a palette
Step 1 Working on a flat surface covered with drop sheet, rotate canvas to landscape position and liberally spread texture paste with palette knife. Apply extra paste on each side to form 2 raised zones. Sculpt paste in direction of future brush strokes. Leave to dry.
Step 2 Dilute 1 part Skin Tone Base with 1 part Flow Medium. Apply to central zone with large brush. Dilute 1 part Blue Violet with 1 part Flow Medium. Apply to side zones with large brush.
Step 3 Dilute 1 part Blue Violet with 1 part Flow Medium. Apply to side zones with large brush.
Step 4 Using wide soft brush, blend small amounts of Aqua, Titanium White and Brilliant Magenta into Skin Tone Base zone.
Step 5 With wide brush, blend small amounts of Titanium White into Blue Violet zones.
Step 6 Use flat brush to paint canvas edges with White Gesso. With wide soft brush, paint artwork with 3 coats of gloss varnish, leaving to dry between coats.
