How essential oils can cure your Mondayitis

Coffee is the usual Monday morning cure-all, however there’s a more holistic approach you can take to ensure Mondayitis doesn’t negatively influence your productivity, performance, mood and concentration. Essential oils are Mother Nature’s solution to all your niggling weekday woes, from headaches and lack of sleep to afternoon slumps and stress. With so many essential oils to choose from, we whittled down a list of the basics that will get your week off to a good start.

Known for its soothing and calming qualities, a little bit of lavender can have you dozing off to sleep within minutes. Add a few drops of lavender oil to a bath or apply topically.

Peppermint

The smell of peppermint with immediately refresh your mind and stimulate the senses. Not only will it help tackle your afternoon slump, it’ll help battle with any tension headaches. Dab a little on your temples, forehead or wrists.

This essential oil will boost your productivity and ability to focus. If you’re feeling tired, lethargic or uninspired, this is the oil to use. It’s even been credited with improving memory. Apply topically.

This fresh oil will instantly lift your mood, balance your energy, clear your mind and energise your body for the week ahead. Mix two to three drops of this powerhouse oil with carrier oil like jojoba and massage into the skin for a pick-me-up that packs a punch.

If you suffer from feeling anxious, low energy or low moods, then Frankincense might help. Rich in sesquiterpenes – molecules that can cross the blood-brain barrier - Frankincense essential oil can help to alleviate the unpleasant effects of anxiety and depression, while boosting energy levels. Apply topically by rubbing a couple drops into your wrists, under your feet and on your neck. You can dilute this oil with something like argan oil.

If you’re feeling under the weather, Eucalyptus oil may be able to help with that. Heralded as a cure-all, this oil is said to aid in decongestion, controlling coughs, asthma relief, joint and muscle pain, as well as stimulating your immune system.
