Everyone’s favourite food blogger, Nagi Maehashi, has been in the news lately, but it has nothing to do with food or recipes.
Instead, the best-selling author has found her forever home, right in the heart of northwest Sydney. And now, there has finally been an update on renovations!

Known as ‘Daybreak’, this property is a Victorian-era home from c1883. Although this mansion-like household with surrounding gardens is already stunning, Nagi has gotten DA approval and has begun significant renovations.
She posted a little sneak peek on her Instagram at the beginning of the year, with a cheeky nod to Dozer.
And, we’ve also gotten insight into what her plans for the kitchen are, and of course, it involves all of Nagi’s favourites.
In her Instagram stories, she detailed all of the plans down to every last detail, including her knife rack and where her range hood will go in the layout.

During the latest episode of Better Homes and Gardens, we got the perfect sneak peak into how the renovations are going. Although there’s not much to see yet (apart from outlines of the island bench), Nagi is extremely excited about the progress.
When did Nagi purchase her home?
It was last sold in 2019 for 4.75 million, and was sold to Nagi for over $7 million. Real estate listings from the time of sale showed that this home is built on a 1550sqm block with four bedrooms, three bathrooms and a large swimming pool in the backyard.
‘Architect wizards’, as Nagi calls them, Cradle Design, explained in their own post about the long wait for approval, and the many heritage regulations that will be navigated through during the renovation process. So, what will be updated, and what will be preserved for the recipe queen?
What style of home is ‘Daybreak’?
Built in the romantic style of Victorian Gothic, this home has ornate detailing, steeply pitched roofs and beautiful dormer windows to allow abundant amounts of light into the home.
This shot of the living room perfectly encapsulates the beauty of the antique trimmings and wooden details that complement the home’s Victorian Gothic design.

As a recipe developer and food blogger, Nagi Maehashi a fully-equipped kitchen is essential. This space is more contemporary and has all the right modern appliances to be potentially chef-worthy.
We have a sneaky suspicion that it’s the kitchen that will be demoed, renovated and design to Nagi’s exact specifications. After all, it is her home office and life passion all rolled into one!

The extensive grounds attached to this property give stunning outlooks and ideal spaces for entertaining. With the quintessential summer pool, a charming pergola and a great expanse of lawn, this backyard will bring out the green-eyed monster for many.
A wrap-around stone verandah also means that the resident Recipetin Eats pup Dozer will have plenty of places to doze in the sunlight!

Before beginning her foodie journey with RecipeTin Eats, Nagi was working within the corporate finance world, an area that gave little passion to her life.
The self-taught cook gave up her day job and pursued something she truly enjoyed, and it looks like it has definitely paid off. We’ll be keeping a close eye on any updates for this wonderful old home.
