Keep cupboard doors safely closed with these magnetic catches.

With a magnetic key catch, a door is latched shut with no fixed handle. In order to open, a magnetic knob is required – holding it over the catch will release the door.

Step 1 Identify parts. Main catch has a loose metal pin that fits into door and is activated a magnet housed in a removable knob.

Step 2 Use template supplied to drill pilot holes for screws in cabinet and back of door. You’ll also need a larger pin hole drilled part-way into door to take magnetic pin. Use depth gauge and apply tape to drill bit as a depth marker so you don’t drill through front of door. Make sure pin can move freely in hole.

Step 3 Screw catch and keeper in place, making sure pin is in place. Fit override lever as required. Keep magnetic knob in safe place out of reach of children. Spare knobs are available.
