In the kitchen or bathroom, full of sharp cutlery and chemicals, cupboards are fascinating places for toddlers. Safety catches will ensure it’s difficult for them to open doors and drawers.
Step 1 Measure where you want cabinet part of catch to be installed and mark with a pencil. Doors need to open just enough so an adult can get a finger in and unlatch safety device.
Step 2 Position hook so it will grab when door is step1 step 2 step 3 step 4 opened, but slip over keeper as it’s being closed. Drill small pilot holes to get screws started, then screw cabinet component to underside of top
Step 3 Predrill, then screw catch to door. Close door and test operation, then adjust as necessary. Avoid showing kids how catch works.
Step 4 In same way, fix safety catches to inside of drawers, but here latches will catch on cabinet component fixed to side of cabinet.
