Swedish flat-pack furniture giant IKEA has collaborated with everyone from Lady Gaga’s stylist Bea Akerlund to Danish design company, Hay. However, this one takes the cake. Set to launch in 2020, IKEA has collaborated with none other than the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, otherwise known as NASA.
Called the Rumtid Collection, each product from the collection is inspired by life in space. Informed by research conducted in partnership with NASA’s Mars Desert Research Station, the range is divided up into four divisions as they relate to small-space living in urban environments: time, space, water and air.
Items include an air purifier, an indoor terrarium, lighting solutions, and a modular block-based furniture system made from wood and waste products. The range will be limited edition, so you’ll need to get in quick.
