All-white interiors and Scandinavian design principles have been at the forefront of trending design schemes for the past few years, but 2019 has seen the return of colour. Everything from jewel tones and bold prints have made a successful comeback onto the design scene, but decorating with bold colours can be tricky.
One colour combo in particular has found success on social media, and is fast becoming a popular design choice: amber and navy.
Amber is a thick yellow tone halfway between bright yellow and orange. It has depth and warmth, and is a closer relative to mustard than it is to buttercup yellow. It feels warm and welcoming, cosy and comforting.
Navy is a neutral most often found in coastal and Hampton homes, and considered a classic colour selection within any interior scheme. But – when paired with amber – it feel fresh, new, funky and contemporary.
However, to get this colour trend right, you need to pick a grounded yellow that feels plush and luxe, and a navy blue that borders on cobalt. This colour combo also plays well with pale pinks, white and grey.
