Take the hard work out of storing bulky lightweight items, like this kayak, with a system of ropes and pulleys. Simply sit the item on the ground, wrap the straps around it and hoist it up out of the way.
Gather your supplies
• Metal screw eyes (3)
• 70 x 45mm pine n 150mm batten screws
• Tie-down straps (2)
• 4mm ropes (2) and a cleat
• 6mm snap hooks (7)
• Awning pulleys (3)
Step 1 Attach screw eyes, equally spaced, to timber to suit length of object you are storing.
Step 2 Screw timber into ceiling joists using 150mm batten screws
Step 3 Wrap tie-down strap around each end of object. We then tied straps together to stop them slipping off ends. Connect ropes to straps with snap hooks.
Step 4 Attach awning pulleys to eyes with more snap hooks. Thread ropes through outer pulleys, then through centre one. Pull on both ropes to evenly raise object
Step 5 Tie off ropes to a cleat attached to wall.
