Cast a little Halloween magic by turning kitchen finds into ghostly writing accessories. To make the ghost’s head, scrunch a coffee filter into a ball and tape it to the top of a pencil. Drape a second filter over ball, then tie yarn around the neck and shape the filter as you like. To complete the look, draw on a face with a marker pen.
How to make a long-legged spider
This cute arachnid centrepiece makes a fun craft project for kids (with help from an adult).
Gather your supplies
• Four 3.5cm-dia. polystyrene foam balls, plus one 6cm-dia.
• Eight 40cm pieces bendy wire
• Black acrylic paint and brush
• Hot-glue gun and glue sticks
• Scrap orange felt
• PVA glue
• Googly eyes
Step 1 Carefully cut smaller foam balls in half using a knife. Paint all foam balls and wires black. Leave to dry.
Step 2 When dry, bend wires 10cm from end to form legs with knees. Applying hot glue to short ends, push 4 wires into each side of 6cm ball. For feet, apply hot glue to long ends and push 1 wire into each half ball, ensuring feet sit flat.
Step 3 Cut out a mouth and eyebrows from orange felt, then glue onto spider face along with googly eyes.
