There is a schedule for the day, so if you’re in Sydney CBD on Friday, head towards Martin Place from 12 to 12:30pm and 1:10 to 2pm to catch the Puppy Preschool. You’ll get front a row seat to see the Guide Dogs’ new recruits being trained up for their big futures.
From 12:40 to 1pm and 1:40 to 2pm there will be a Guide Dog demonstration, and from 2pm to 2:30pm there’s a Pat a Puppy session, where you can cuddle and coo at the baby recruits.
It costs more than $50,000 to train a Guide Dog, and only five per cent of the organisation’s funding comes from the government, meaning most of the money that funds Guide Dog training comes from the generosity of the public. So, while you’re at it, donate to Guide Dogs NSW/ACT via their website, and earn more about the event on their Facebook page.
