Google Nest Wifi - Everything You Need to Know

In the market for a new Wi-Fi router? Look no further. - by Luke Jensen

Google Nest Wifi - Everything You Need to Know

If you’ve been looking to pick up a new Wi-Fi router, look no further because Google has just released what is probably the smartest and most aesthetically pleasing router out there – the Google Nest Wifi.

A few years have passed since Google launched their first Wi-Fi router and during that time we have seen some changes, mostly around the rise of mesh networks and the popularity of Google Assistant enabled devices. Thankfully, Google didn’t ignore what most of us have been asking for, which is a Wi-Fi router that isn’t just easy on the eye, but comes packed with a load of features to make it one of the most exciting Wi-Fi products on the market.

We go into detail to explain why the Google Nest Wifi could be just what you need to future-proof your home with a bit of style.

Easy to set up and even easier to use

Setting up your Wi-Fi network has never been easier. Just plug in the router and run through a few steps on the Google Home app and you are good to go. It’s really that simple. As soon as you are up and running, you will be able to control all of your connected devices by using the Google Home app.

Powerful Wi-Fi

The new Nest Wifi receives serious performance improvements over the previous model, where it’s now capable of handling twice the amount of Wi-Fi streams and doubles the amount of processing power. The perfect setup for any household that demands the grunt to stream multiple 4K movies at once.

A Wi-Fi router made for homes of in all shapes and sizes

If you happen to live in a small apartment, you will probably only need the Nest Wifi router on it’s own to get a strong Wi-Fi signal in every room. However, if you live in a large multi-story house, you can get ready to enjoy a black-spot free Wi-Fi network by simply by scattering a few Nest Wifi Points across the house.

Manage your connected devices and users with ease

Using the Google Home app you can easily manage all of your connected devices and even assign them to specific users. If having supreme user management controls aren't enough, you will also be able to schedule the connectivity of devices across your home, which could be great for enjoying an uninterrupted dinner, getting some studying done or even just mandating some internet-free time within the house.

Two devices in one

What else sets the Nest Wifi apart from the competition? The fact that it comes with a built-in smart speaker. As we are seeing more support for Google Assistant across more and more products, it’s a bit of a two birds with one stone sort of thing if you choose to set your house up with a Nest Wifi network.

A simple and secure guest network

It you are sick and tired of handing out your Wi-Fi credentials to all of your guests, then this is just what you’ve been waiting for. It’s incredibly easy to set up a guest network on the Nest Wifi, where it will give you the ability to literally pull up a QR code for your friends to scan and they will find themselves on your network no time.

How much does it cost?

The Nest Wifi router starts at $269, but if you are looking to set up a mesh network, you can grab yourself the 2-pack for $399 or the 3-pack for $549.

Availability

The Google Nest Wifi is available at the Google Store, JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, Officeworks, The Good Guys and more retailers.
