If you’ve ever been left wondering about the identify of plant, you’re in luck because we have a hack for you.
It turns out your iPhone has a built-in plant identifier we didn’t know about. And it’s the perfect pocket pal for budding gardeners. Or anyone who’s planning on giving their backyard a makeover.
That’s right, no more guessing what the mystery tree in your neighbour’s backyard is. Take a photo, and Apple’s Visual Look Up feature will do the rest for you.
Visual Look Up’ feature
The feature is available on iPhones running iOS 15 or later. It’s designed to help users quickly access information about plants simply by pointing their iPhone camera at them.
The best part is that you can use this visual look-up tool on old photos you already have on your phone and new snaps you want to take.
Here’s how to do it.
How to use Visual Look Up on iPhone
Step. 1
Make sure your iPhone is updated.
Step. 2
Open your camera and photograph the plant you want to identify.
Step 3
Open the photo in full screen. (Or any other photo in your camera roll). The little information symbol means Visual Look Up information is available.
Step. 4
Swipe up or tap the symbol, and a listing of the plant you’ve snapped should appear with a link to Wikipedia.
The Visual Look Up tool isn’t limited to plants either. iPhone users can look up products, animals, landmarks, and more. Just follow the same steps above, selecting a different feature to look up.
