How to make a basket sphere

Give your garden some vertical appeal with hanging baskets

Give your garden area added vertical appeal with hanging basket spheres. You can use trailing plants or, for objects with a difference, simply spray paint and hang them up empty!

Gather your supplies

• Galvanised beehive hanging baskets (2)
• Selection of plants


You’ll also need
Drop sheet; spray paint (we used Dulux Duramax spray paint in Gold); cable ties; wire snips; scissors; potting mix


Here’s how

Step 1 Remove chains and liners from hanging baskets. Place baskets on drop sheet and spray paint. Let dry.

Step 2 Place 1 basket on top of the other and secure edges together with cable ties, using at least 4 to secure around entire basket. Spray-paint cable ties in same colour and let dry.

Step 3 Using wire snips, remove 1 section of wire – this will give you access so you can plant it up later

Step 4 Using scissors, trim liner to fit base of basket. Insert and check fit and adjust if necessary. Part-fill liner with potting mix, plant up and backfill.

Step 5 Attach chain to top of basket and hang where desired.
