Indoor plants are a unique decorating tool. Plants have the ability to make a space feel more stylish, to make people feel calmer and happier, indoor plants also provide a sense of ‘outside’ indoors. If you’ve already mastered growing a peace lily, devil’s ivy, cactus or croton, then you might be ready to grow an indoor tree.

Granted, you’ll need to ensure your home provides the right conditions for these trees to grow, but if you put in the time and effort you’ll be rewarded with lush foliage and an eye-catching plant that’s sure to be a conversation-starter among guests.

1. Kentia palm

A kentia palm is a large but slow-growing plant that likes bright, indirect light and well-drained soil. These guys can tolerate a little shade here and there, too.

2. Corn plant

Easy to grow, this plant can grow to six feet tall and likes moderate to bright, indirect light and just-moist soil. Don’t over-water.

3. Weeping fig

Prefers bright, indirect light and a position away from heaters and cold draughts.

4. Olive tree

As long as you have a spot in your home that gets lots of bright light and direct sun, then you can grow an olive tree indoors. Well-draining soil is a must.

This tree can grow up to seven feet tall indoors and prefers bright spaces, constant moisture but drier soil in winter.

6. Umbrella tree

Easy to care for, this supersized version of the umbrella plant needs moderate light and regular watering.

7. Fiddle leaf fig

Although a fiddle leaf fig requires lots of care, in can grow to 10 feet tall indoors and likes bright, indirect sunlight ad a consistent environment, so avoid any position or temperature changes.
