Thanks to this handy tip, you can now stretch your bagged spinach to last up to 14 days!
While buying loose spinach is the ideal choice, it’s not always possible.
Taking to Instagram, Banish, a marketplace that provides top-selling eco-friendly products, shared a video on how to make your spinach leaves last longer. Watch the video here.
How to stop spinach from going soggy
As the video says: Instead of leaving your spinach in the plastic bag, put it in a tupperware container.
Next, place a Swedish dishcloth on top to absorb extra moisture.
Then pop the lid back on and put the container in the fridge – your spinach leaves should last up to 14 days!
Banish founder Lottie Dalziel, says, “Moisture is what makes your spinach soggy and it starts to decay faster. So by adding the sponges your spinach stays dry and crisp lasting far longer. The air-tight container also helps with this.”
What’s a Swedish dishcloth?
The Banish website says: “These Swedish sponges have been used in kitchens around the world for 60 years. Made from sustainably sourced wood pulp, each sponge can absorb up to 15 times its weight or 3/4 of a cup of water! These compostable sponges can clean any surface without leaving any streaks or marks.”

Another added: “Even better – store it upside down, or rotate between right way up and upside down.”
This handy tip also works for coriander.
