With the right tools, measuring ingredients for cooking is a no-brainer.
But what about using the same measuring spoon for sticky and dry ingredients? That’s where a clever hack from Instagram comes in handy.
How to measure honey and sticky ingredients
The brain behind the Instagram account @What.Sophie.Does shared a game-changing tip: “No more messy measuring spoons! Avoid having sticky ingredients stay on your measuring spoon by making an indent into the dry ingredients with the required measuring spoon, then pour the ingredient into the indent! Too easy!”
Sophie’s followers were quick to praise her brilliance. Comments flooded in, with one person writing, “Oh, that’s just so clever,” while another exclaimed, “OMG!!!! I can’t believe I’ve never thought of doing that!”
Is it accurate?
However, some concerns were raised about the accuracy of this method. One commenter pointed out, “The indent from the outside of the spoon will be a larger volume than the inside, though – sorry.”
However, another person pointed out that it should be okay unless you are a professional cook.
“Size from one teaspoon/tablespoon varies greatly depending on the manufacturer. If you are a professional baker making delicate patisserie at home, you probably use a scale! Measuring is never as accurate as using scales!”
Not a fan of this hack? If your recipe calls for honey and oil, measure the oil first, and the honey will slide right off.
