A Coles Christmas pudding that sold out nationally last year has made a comeback for the festive season this year.
Coles’ Finest Luxury Gingerbread and Butterscotch Sponge Pudding is adorned with gold and spiced with ginger and cinnamon.
The $12 gilded pudding made waves on social media at Christmas last year, attracting 3.8K likes and over 2,000 comments on the Coles Facebook page.
“We bought one as a ‘trial’ for Xmas… it is gold. Literally. Looks like it has been painted gold. Which is super pretty. But weird. Once you get past eating the gold it’s really good! Tastes like a homemade dessert! Yum!” said one enthusiastic shopper.
“OMG!!!! THIS IS THE BEST I’VE TASTED,” another commented.
The majority of the comments, however, were complaints from disgruntled shoppers who had missed out on the sold-out pudding.
“I’ve visited 4 different stores repeatedly and none of them have had any stock for the past four weeks,” complained one shopper.
“So disappointed, I’ve checked store multiple times a week … and for weeks, staff have kept telling me, ‘Sorry we don’t have any.’ Disappointed, not so Merry this Christmas without a pudding!” said another.
Due to the exceptional demand for the pudding last year, a representative for Coles has stated that “this year, we’ve created even more so there will be plenty to go around!”
Coles Finest Luxury Gingerbread and Butterscotch Sponge Pudding is available in stores and online now.
